About Brian Talbot

My passions are at the intersections of technology and creativity. I love creating experiences that excite people while making their lives easier.

As a manager, I believe that the core of leadership is service. My goal is to bring out the best in team members by working hard to get them what they need, while improving and crafting processes that empower them.

I have 17 years of experience building digital interfaces in a lot of very different-looking team structures. Cross-functional collaboration has become a super power. I have seen firsthand how important advocacy/evangelism is for processes that allow teams to find the right thing to design, rather than only focusing on designing things right.

I believe in fostering an atmosphere where everyone is comfortable giving and receiving critical feedback. That concept applies broadly to design teams, outside product teams, and between product teams and the people using their digital products.

Personal Life

I was raised in a military family and moved around a fair amount as an adult, so I have lived in 7 different states, plus a few years in England. I love to travel when I can and have been to nearly every US state and a handful of countries. We currently reside at the base of Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

My love for technology and creativity spills over into my hobbies as well, which I collect faster than I can keep track. I love to build things—everything from kitchens to electric guitars, and computers to digital 3D models. I also love to cook, and do all the cooking at home. I am a hockey fan, and love to be outdoors skiing, camping, and mountain biking.

My partners in all this chaos are my wife, Brittany, and our four kids. We have a dog named Raven. Brittany runs a successful business crafting various hand-made goods. She owns the garage at our house where she keeps her 100 watt laser, CNC machine, and a full compliment of carpentry power tools. I design some stuff for her and help out in the workshop and on renovation projects when she lets me.
